DL time

After the first day I hurt my back, I made so much progress. I still have a little bit of stiffness in my right side. I don’t plan on this being more than 15 days. The 16th day, I’ll be playing.

    Reed,

Great to see you’re confident you’ll be back on the 16th day. Obviously your skills will be missed, but we need your attitude, work ethic, and approach to the game as well.

HEY REEDER, SORRY TO SEE YOU ON THE DL. I’LL BE PRAYING YOU GET HEALTHY QUICK! REGARDS FROM SO CAL. S.C.

My friends and I think you are a true baseball player. If the rest of the cubbies played as well as you do each game we’d be a much better team. Here’s to your speedy recovery wishing you all the best. Hurry back.

Glad to hear you made the progress that you did. The sooner you get back, the better. The team will definitely miss you out on the field but hopefully you can give the team encouraging words of advice and keep their spirits up!

Sorry to hear about your back. I hope that the fifteen days pass quickly and we get you back in the game. We are struggling right now, but things will get better. The Cubs are too good of a team to not get better. Rest that back so that you can come in and make some more of those amazing plays!

Hurry back (no pun intended)! We need you dude. Remember Top Gun? I keep thinking I’ll make T-shirts, but I’ll put this up here for anyone who is into making T-shirts (me not so much…):

I FEEL THE NEED…THE NEED FOR REED!

C’mon you artsy people out there, come up with some Navy aviator-inspired insignia that works with our team and our player!!

    Get well soon!!

Reed you are hands down the best defensive fielder on this Cubs team as well as one of the most consistent hitters. Hate that you’re on the DL against the White Sox again this year, and you will be missed in those games. The big money guys on the team can learn a thing or two from you on how to hustle and play the game. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Anyone who hustles and goes all out, as you do, may get hurt, but hopefully you recover soon. Every good team needs someone like you. Now that you will be sitting in the dugout with your laptop, you may have more time to connect with your fans. There is an area of real concern that Cub fans have, but no one in the media goes near it – Mike Fontenot’s losing his timimg at the plate. He has been a superior hitter since he actually was a “little kid”, and seemed to be getting better every year. Hitters go through slumps, and most of the Cubs have done just that, but no player stops hitting for no known reason. Some fans are aware of his vision problems, but he has played so well at third, that Lou hesitates to put anyone else there. He focuses his eyes well enough to be superior defensively, but it is obvious that something is very wrong, as evidenced by the fact that you have stopped kidding him. We don’t expect you to reveal anything that would embarrass Mike, or give any information away to opposing pitchers, but could you at least reassure Mike’s numerous fans that the problem can be corrected, that Lou understands what the problem is, and that he won’t be thrown under the bus once Aramis comes back. Maybe he needs to have a meltdown, like Bradley and Zambrano, or would he get a spanking?

Get well soon! Even though I’m a Mets fan(a miserable one, lol) you’re one of my favorite players and I look forward to seeing you play in September when you guys come to NY. Since I can’t watch the Cubbie games over here I hope to at least see some highlights of your great plays when you come back. Keep playing hard and take good care of yourself. Thanks again for entertaining us with your amazing blog entries.

i think its aweomse that you take the time to write a blog. its great to see derosa and wood back because they were such great team leaders. but not only them that are team leaders but so are you. you are literally my idol because you have a great attitude and your a great player on top of that. i dont play baseball, but the charactor and attitude you display can help me and everyone really, to excel in sports. i will always look up to you, and thanks for being such a motivating role model. i dont know if you have time to read any of these comments, but i just want you to know that no matter what kind of slump the cubs are in, you and the cubs always have a fan rooting for you.

    Reed,
Talk to Soriano please it looks like he’s just going thru the motions not running out ground balls, ya cant hit a homer evertime. It also appears to me that he’s not hustleing in outfield I have seen at least two hits that should have been singles, but with his lack luster approach to getting to the ball runners are advancing to second.
I’m 56 years old and have died along with all the other loyal cub fans,I think Ron Santo should go down there and kick some ***. Every game i’ve seen you play for the cubs i cant say that about you. next time you are in center give him a push.
    take care of ur back
    P.S.
tell Z to take a chill pill we all know his temper dosent help his performance

Get better soon, Reed. Like others have said, we need someone with that can-do attitude out there.

  23. smg60148@yahoo.com

    Reed,
I think that you are one of the better players on the team. This fire that everyone talks about Lou having, you have and can shake up your team. Hope you feel better soon.

What do you think about DeRosa being Cardinal…makes me sick.

  24. nutdrinkingamp12

    Reed-
sorry to see you on the DL. YOU WERE ABSOULTELY KILLING PITCHING BEFORE YOU WENT ON THE DL! Well since I’ve seen a couple of places that Miles is goin on The DL today, you’ll now have a fellow shorty buddy on the DL! Well dont mind the short thing, I’m only 5′ 10″

  25. byrdi68

We’ll be waiting for you on that 16th day Reed…. Keep that Cubs team motivated while you sit and wait to get back on the field…

    Take care!

    Reed….ol’ buddy.

ICE , ICE, and more ICE on that back.
Get a bag of frozen veggies and lay on that ice (20 mins on/ 20 mins off). It will speed healing by 50%.

It works for me every time.

  28. texascubfan78640

Reed – can’t wait to see you back in action. I know you’re anxious to get back out there and play. Keep up the good work.

  29. tampabaybucs620@hotmail.com

Can’t wait to have Reed Back, the Cubs need you. Your our Best Outfielder and my favorite player. Hope to see ya back soon, get well!

  30. grace4hall

Get healthy soon Reed. The cubs need you. We all appreciate your hardwork. Is there any chance of you or anyone besides soriano playing LF? Has there been any talk of moving him out of the lead off spot, or was does Lou like a 230 hitter with an OBP of 296 leading the offensive attack? I noticed Sean Marshall has a higher batting average, could he maybe leadoff?

  31. go1demp1go

You looked great playing with the Chiefs on Friday against the Cougars. Even if it was weird to see you in #22. Good footwork getting back to first base after that great catch from their right fielder.

  32. kamrn45@yahoo.com

Reed- you are an awesome player- b— – to – the wall!
Get better cuz we need you out there. Your blog is fun to read and you’re hot too!
